Aurora, Illinois remembers 9/11 attacks

Aurora police and fire departments were host to Aurora’s annual Sept. 11 memorial ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., Aurora’s public safety officials and City leaders were joined by community members at APD headquarters, 1200 E. Indian Trail.

Marking the 23rd anniversary of the tragedies in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, the ceremony featured a presentation of colors. wreath laying ceremony by the Aurora police and fire honor guards and remarks from officials.

A moment of silence was held at 7:46 a.m.–when the first plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center.
