Aurora Lions Club serves lunch at Hesed House

Celebrating its “We Serve” motto, Aurora Lions Club members prepared and served lunch at Hesed House homeless shelter in Aurora Thursday, March 13.

The menu featured sloppy joe sandwiches and sides. Lions volunteers were Dick Schindel, Joe Beary, Tom Muth, Gary Reis, Archie Vargas, and Susan Koepke.

Aurora Lions offer monthly vision exams for youth six months to age six from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. Screenings are held at the Santori Aurora Public Library, 101 S. River Street in Aurora. Registration is not required, walk-ins are welcome.

Trained Lions volunteers use a handheld Plusoptix screener to check eye health of kids for near-sightedness, called myopia; far-sightedness, hyperopia; and astigmatism, egg-shaped eye.
