Aurora Lions Club members fulfilled their club’s motto, “We Serve,” January 9.

Returning for an annual community-service project, 11 Lions prepared and served lunches to about 200 guests at Hesed House homeless shelter in Aurora.

Jay Short, Aurora club first vice president and service co-chair, coordinated the feeding event. He said, “It celebrated a Lions Clubs International hunger-week focus January 3-11. This was part of three impactful weeks dedicated to creating positive change and making a difference in communities around the globe — together,” Short said.

Other focus areas include mental health and well-being, held October 4-12, and the environment, to be celebrated April 18-26.

Open to men and women interested in community service, the club meets at noon on the first and third Thursdays of the month at Riverview Diner, 1420 S. River Rd., Montgomery. Prospective members are invited. For more about Aurora Lions Club, call 630-707-2870 or visit auroralionsclub.org.
