Children six months to 16 years can get a free vision screening through the Aurora Lions Club Saturday, March 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Santori Aurora Public Library, 101 S. River St., Aurora.
Walk-ins welcome. No appointment needed. Call 630-707-2870 or visit auroralionsclub.org for details.
Free exams continue on the third Saturday of each month at the library.
Trained Lions volunteers use a handheld Plusoptix S12 camera to check eye health of kids for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, blurred vision, lazy eye, eye misalignment, unequal refractive power, and cataracts or corneal scars.
Adults are notified if a screening indicates a vision problem that requires a comprehensive exam.
Vision cameras are supported by a grant from Lions International Foundation. The effort is part of Lions Kidsight USA, community eye-screening for children sponsored by Lions Clubs International.
