Aurora Lions support library fair

Aurora Lions Club offered free eye exams and membership information during an early childhood resource fair Saturday, Feb. 7.

The fourth annual event took place at Santori Aurora Public Library. Admission was free to the public.

Featured were free community resources for families with children ages 0-5. Included was childcare information, social services, games with prizes, activities including painting with noodles, and a visit from Aurora Police Department’s Paw Patrol Chase.

Lions Jay Short, Susan Koepke, and Marsha Bock conducted vision exams for youth ages six months to 16 years. Aurora Lions president Randy Brown, Archie Vargas, and Gloria Salinas greeted guests at an information table.

Short, first vice-president and co-service chair, reported 34 children were screened. Seven were referred for more testing. Last year Lions screened 36 children, including eight referrals.
