All are invited to the Aurora Navy League Council 247’s annual picnic from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Jericho Lake Park, 39W365 Jericho Road, Aurora. The entry is off Jericho Road near the Jericho Lake Disk Golf Course. It is west of Orchard Road and east of Barnes Road. After you enter the Park look for the first and largest pavilion (to the left), the one with cover, grill, and bathrooms nearby, that’s our Pavilion. Remember, this is in Aurora, not Montgomery. We are using Reuland’s Catering, which will provide a delicious oven-baked chicken, Italian beef sandwiches with hot and sweet peppers, mostaccioli, coleslaw, and a dessert. Water and refreshments will be provided. The cost is $25 all-inclusive plus refreshments. A “donation” box will be there for anyone availing themselves of the refreshments. We urge all to contribute to our “donation” box, even if they don’t avail themselves of refreshments in order to cover the cost of the picnic food and drink.
There is no speaker at our annual picnic. It is a time to mix and socialize with your fellow Council members and an opportunity to get to know one another better.
The Aurora Council is having a new member drive, i.e., half of the first year’s dues for new members. This is an excellent opportunity to attend an interesting event, and determine whether you would like to join permanently. Come and bring a guest to the picnic. We need to build up our membership and renew those of existing members.
