You do not need to be a member of the Navy League, or have a reservation, to attend the in-person meeting, the general public is welcome. All are invited to this event. Only those who order a meal are required to pay for the meal. Others may attend at no-charge.

The after dinner speaker is Ms. Randi Chambers from the Northern Illinois Food Bank whose topic is Empowering Our Neighbors to Thrive. Northern Illinois Food Bank’s mission is to provide nutritious food and resources for our neighbors, with dignity, equity and convenience, through partnerships and innovation. The Food Bank works diligently to improve nutritious food access and reach more neighbors across a 13-county service area. Through the collaboration of 900 member food pantries and program partner sites, the Food Bank provides 90 million meals annually and serves an average of 570,000 neighbors each month.

Randi Chambers, Development Officer, joined Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Philanthropy Team, in January 2022. Randi, a former teacher with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Illinois University, began her journey into the nonprofit world in 2019, serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) at the Food Bank. During that time, she learned to assess and assist member food pantries in building their capacity to better serve neighbors, helped secure funding for general operations and program support, and presented to groups interested in learning more about the Food Bank and how they can engage in the mission. This experience provided a strong foundation for her current role as a member of the Food Bank’s Corporate and Foundation Giving Team, with a focus on grant writing and donor relations. Randi and her husband are Kane County residents, now raising three teenagers, and they continue to instill in their children the value of serving others and giving back to the community.

The Aurora Council needs to expand its membership. This is our only source of funds to help the Junior Navy and AF ROTC units in area high schools. It will pay half of the first year’s dues for new members. This is an excellent opportunity to attend an interesting event, and determine whether you would like to join permanently.
