The after-dinner speakers will have a most interesting slide presentation entitled “The Real Situation Along the Mexican/American Border”. Dave and Mary Ann Barnett will discuss their Spring 2020 road trip along the Mexican/USA border from the Gulf of Mexico in Brownsville, Texas to the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, Calif.. They drove in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California and photographed the border and talked extensively to U.S. Border Patrol agents and their families along the way. The purpose of the trip was to witness and learn about the border situation first hand rather than rely on news reports. Dave and Mary Ann are members of the 786 Club associated with the Aurora Council Navy League. After retirement from their farm in central Illinois they commenced building a wooden eight-story observation tower/home in Arkansas which is nearing completion. But that’s a presentation for another time.

The Aurora Council is having a membership drive, and will pay half of the first year’s dues for new members. It is an excellent opportunity to attend an interesting event, and determine whether you would like to join permanently.
