The Aurora Navy League Council 247 will hold its annual picnic Tuesday, Aug. 20. The meeting will be held at the Jericho Park starting at approximately 5 p.m. and finishing at approximately 8 p.m.. The address is: 39W365 Jericho Road Aurora. The entry is off Jericho Road near the Jericho Lake Disk Golf Course. It is west of Orchard Road and east of Barnes Road. After you enter the Park look for the largest pavilion, the one with cover, grill, and bathrooms, that’s our pavilion. Remember, this is in Aurora, not Montgomery. We are using Reuland’s Catering, which provides a most delicious array of great food, not just picnic food. They will serve us oven baked chicken, Italian beef sandwiches with hot and sweet peppers, mostaccioli, coleslaw and a nice dessert. Water and refreshments will be provided. The cost is $25 all-inclusive plus refreshments. A donation box will be there for anyone availing themselves of the refreshments. We urge all to contribute to our donation box, even if not eating refreshments in order to cover the cost of the picnic food and drink.
There will be no speaker at our annual picnic. To help cover our costs the media must pay if attending. It is a time to mix and socialize with your fellow Council members and an opportunity to get to know one another better.
The Aurora Council is having a new member drive, i.e., half of the first year’s dues for new members. This is an excellent opportunity to attend an interesting event, and determine whether you would like to join. Come and bring a guest to the picnic. We need to build up our membership and renew those of existing members.
