Aurora Noon Lions Club members invite the public to join the Lions in its fight against the effects of vision and hearing loss.
Aurora Noon Lions will hold its annual Candy Day fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Jewel-Osco, 1952 W. Galena Boulevard in Aurora.
Lions will give away mini Tootsie Pops and accept monetary donations to help visually- and hearing-impaired individually.
Rodrigo “Bobby” Menendez, Aurora Noon Lions president, said, “It is almost impossible for those who can see and hear normally to fully understand what it is like to be visually- or hearing-impaired.
“But they can help through their support of Candy Day.”
Candy Day is the premier fundraiser for the Lions of Illinois Foundation, based in Sycamore, which offers services and programs provided to the hearing- and visually-impaired in Illinois.
This event raises more than half of the total of operating funds for the Sycamore-based foundation.
Candy Day donations enable the foundation to serve more than 18,000 men, women, and children annually.
More than 15 states and Australia conduct Candy Day fundraisers.
The Foundation provides Camp Lions, a Summer residential camp especially designed for children with sight and hearing loss and Camp Helen Keller for Adults with vision and hearing loss.
