Aurora Noon Lions Club members will hold their annual Candy Day fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Prisco’s Family Market, 1108 Prairie Street in Aurora.
Lions will give away mini Tootsie Pops and accept monetary donations to help the visually and hearing impaired.
Arvid Meyer, Noon Lions president, said “It is almost impossible for those who can see and hear normally to fully understand what it is like to be visually or hearing impaired. But donors can help through their support of Candy Day.”
The event is the premiere fundraiser for the Lions of Illinois Foundation of Sycamore, a nonprofit which offers services and programs provided to the hearing and visually impaired in Illinois.
This event raises more than 50% of total operating funds for the Foundation.
Candy Day donations enable the foundation to serve more than 18,000 men, women, and children annually. The Foundation provides Camp Lions, a Summer residential camp especially designed for children with sight and hearing loss and Camp Helen Keller for Adults with vision and hearing loss
Aurora and Illinois Lions are among clubs in more than 15 states and Australia conducting Candy Day fundraisers.
