You care about the planet and want to support conservation efforts, but finding the time and energy can be exhausting when there are already so many things to do this Summer. By participating in the Aurora Public Library District’s Summer Reading Adventure, you’ll be provided with easy to implement suggestions for creating a better planet and enjoying nature. All while enjoying quality time at the Library!

This year’s program, Read, Renew, Repeat, will kick off Saturday, June 1, and it promises to be filled with fun, exploration, and learning! “Because of this year’s theme, staff concentraated their efforts on providing programs on the topics of recycling and conservation,” said senior manager of Children’s Services, Monica Boyer. “The offerings are impressive, educational, and fun!” By completing the Summer Reading Adventure, participants will earn prizes and coupons while learning about the world around us.

Traditionally Summer is a time to relax and unwind, but it’s important to keep those students’ minds sharp. The Read, Renew, Repeat program is designed to combat the Summer slide, preventing learning loss that can happen during breaks from school. It’s a chance for adults to rediscover the joy of reading, visit the library, and connect with nature. “The big reason why our reading programs are so fantastic is that they are for everyone!” added Boyer. “This program brings so many folks together to enjoy the experience.”

Joining the adventure is easy! Simply go to your nearest APLD location or sign up online starting Saturday, June 1. You’ll receive a special log to track your progress, or you can use the Beanstack Tracker app. By completing 20 fun, themed activities throughout the Summer, you’ll earn a reward for your efforts! The best part? All the activities are repeatable, so you can complete your favorites without pressure. Feeling extra adventurous? There’s a bonus challenge for those who crave even more reading time. By logging an additional 100 minutes of reading, you’ll qualify for an additional prize! And of course, there are lots of activities and programs at the Library to keep you busy even after you’ve completed the program.
