Dig Deeper with the Aurora Public Library (APL)! Dig Deeper, this year’s Summer Reading Adventure theme, is an online-only adventure full of activities, prizes, and special events, available for all ages. For the self-paced program, participants complete 10 activities during July to win a prizes. Want to win bigger? Complete two activities per week to be entered into a weekly drawing!
Starting July 1, you can register for the Summer Reading Adventure through Beanstack at tinyurl.com/APLSummerReadingAdventure. Once you are registered, you can start completing activities that you enjoy. Activities this year include ways to explore our community, dig into library resources, and of course, reading. Some examples of activities include completing a jigsaw puzzle, going on a photo scavenger hunt around Aurora, listening to an audiobook for 20 minutes, supporting a community business and more! Sophie Kenney, assistant manager of Children’s Services and Early Literacy Specialists at the Aurora Public Library, said, “This year’s Summer Reading Adventure will engage readers of all ages through fun and easy learning experiences. Even though the program is based online, the activities offer opportunities that bring families and our community together.” Any activity can be repeated more than once, just make sure to log your activities through Beanstack.
Once you’ve completed and logged two activities, you are automatically entered into a weekly drawing of gift cards from businesses in our community. To complete the Summer Reading Adventure, 10 activities must be completed during the month of July. When you have finished the summer reading adventure, win a book and package of coupons donated by Aurora area businesses! For easier access, don’t forget to download the Beanstack Tracker app available through Google Play and the App store.
Don’t forget to join us for our special programs and events! Among many are a Virtual Live Princess Storytime and Reading with Sherri Rinker. These events are part of our Summer Reading Adventure, however, you do not need to be a participant to enjoy these programs.
Virtual Live Princess Storytime Giveaway will be held Saturday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m.! This 30- minute fully interactive Princess Storytime is full of singing, engaging storytelling, and games. Dig Deeper and wrap up Summer Reading with Sherri Rinker, author of our favorite digger classics, including Three Cheers for Kid McGear& Tiny and the Big Dig! Read with Sherri Rinker at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25 Sherri is the author of five New York Times bestselling picture books, including the No. 1 bestselling Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site Series (Chronicle Books).
