Curbside hold pickup will allow customers to place items on hold from home, schedule a time for pick up and drive up in a safe and secure manner. Library staff members will contact customers when holds are ready to schedule a pickup time. For more information visit aurorapubliclibrary.org/curbside.
Michaela Haberkern, executive director said, “Staff and customer safety come first, and so this next phase of service will allow customers to get the items they need while still practicing social distancing. Our staff will handle materials with gloves on and will wear face coverings to ensure their safety as well as that of our customers. Library materials will be delivered in disposable bags with no direct contact. We’re all used to this now from restaurants and retail pickup so we’re comfortable that it’s a good process. We’re so excited to be able to offer access to our physical collections again.”
During this time period all late fees are waived and due dates are extended through October 31, 2020. Materials can only be returned via the library’s book drops to ensure customer and staff member safety. Returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours as recommended by the CDC.
Customers are encouraged to continue to hold on to materials to allow for adequate space to quarantine returned materials.
The Library‘s online resources are available including 24/7 access to the digital library, homework help via our databases, getting a library card and engaging with virtual programs. To find all our resources to use from home visit aurorapubliclibrary.org/At-Home.
