The NCAA Division III baseball tournament selection committee Monday, May 15 announced the field for the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships.
Aurora University’s Spartans, 39-4, received an automatic Pool A bid by winning the 2023 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament championship and are in the field for the 2023 baseball championships.
The Spartans will be host to John Carroll University, 28-14 overall, champions of the Ohio Athletic Conference, in the Aurora Regional on Jim Schmid Field at Stuart Sports Complex in southwest side of Aurora.
Making their 25th appearance overall and fifth consecutive NCAA regional appearance, the Spartans will play John Carroll Friday, May 19, with first pitch at noon.
The teams will play two games Saturday with game one at 11 a.m.. Two games would be played Sunday, May 21 if needed in the best-of- five-game series, with first pitch at 11 a.m..
Aurora University is 3-1 against teams in the field of 60 with victories over St. John Fisher University, Loras College, and Buena Vista University, and a loss to Rowan University. A and John Carroll share one common opponent in the University of Mount Union which AU defeated on its Spring trip and John Carroll split conference games.
