Aurora University men’s basketball players celebrate Saturday, Feb. 24 with a trophy as Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference champion. The Spartans defeated Benedictine University, 76-71, in Aurora to qualify for the NCAA Division III 64-team tournament. Aurora won the first game Friday at Washington University in St. Louis with a last-second victory over the host, 82-80. Marcus Myers made the game-winning shot at the buzzer. Aurora fell in the second round to Nebraska Wesleyan, 82-61, Saturday at Washington University. Aurora finished with a 20-9 season record. North Central College in Naperville was defeated in the first round, 72-55, by University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Al Benson/The Voice
