Aurora University, North Central College, in D-III playoffs

The Aurora University football team is headed to the NCAA Division III football Championship for the seventh time in program history and third consecutive season.

Sunday, Nov. 13, the Spartans received a Pool A berth.

Aurora finished the regular season with a 9-1 overall record and went a perfect 8-0 to win the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championship.

The Spartans will travel to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater (8-2, 6-1 WIAC) in Whitewater, Wis., Saturday, Nov. 19, for a noon kickoff at Perkins Stadium.

This will be the first meeting between the two football programs.

North Central College in Naperville, seeded No. 1 in Nation, will play host to Lake Forest College at noon Saturday, Nov. 19. See Aurora and North Central season schedules and results on page 11.

AU football under the direction of head coach Don Beebe, in his fourth season at the helm, makes a trip to the NCAA Division III Football Championship appearance for the third consecutive season.

AU is led by an offense that ranks second in scoring at 50.1 per game and 11th in total offense (486.6 yards per game).

Defensively the Spartans rank 17th in scoring defense allowing 11.7 points per game, fifth in turnover margin and 35th in total defense (267 yards per game).

Aurora finished the regular season with a 42-0 win over Concordia Wisconsin at Aurora on Nov. 12, capping a nine-game win streak.

North Central defeated Augustana College, 63-3 in the final regular-season game.
