Aurorans win at Home and Community Education state conference

Needlework by two Aurora women won blue ribbons at the 101st Illinois Association for Home and Community Education State Conference March 11-13 at the Keller Convention Center in Effingham.

Dee Kellen was awarded her best-of-show blue ribbon for a crocheted baby blanket. An Iris-themed hand embroidered quilt by Mari Curless won the People’s Choice blue ribbon.

Both are members of the Kennedy Unit of Kane County Association for Home and Community Education. Founded in 1918, KCAHCE is a volunteer-driven nonprofit comprising 83 members in five units. KCAHCE holds noon membership luncheons in odd-numbered months at 535 S. Randall Road in St. Charles.

Open to the public, the group offers individuals and families educational programs and experiences that encourage leadership and service to the community.
