As part of its COVID-19 Community Conversations Series, the city government of Aurora will be host to a discussion with Aurora Public Art and the COVID-19 PSA designers at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7. The conversation can be watched on the City’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CityofAuroraIL.
In the spirit of the depression-era WPA, Aurora Public Art launched the COVID-19 PSA Project, requesting Public Service Announcement designs from Aurora area artists. The project was meant to provide community encouragement and information, as well as work for artists during the COVID-19 public health crisis. Thirteen winners were announced April 30.
Selected PSA’s have been printed on yard signs to be placed this week in locations throughout the City. Electronic versions are available for printing or social media usage on the City of Aurora’s website www.aurora-il.org/329/Public-Art-Commission and Aurora Public Art’s social media sites @aurorapublicart.
“The designs have received an enthusiastic response since they were released electronically. We look forward to expanding their reach with the printed yard signs,” said Jen Evans, Public Art director for the City of Aurora. “These colorful, powerful designs encourage our community to remain #aurorastrongerathome.”
