Aurora’s Special Census to begin February 3

The City of Aurora government is set to undergo a Special Census set to begin February 3. This initiative, which serves as a count of the City’s population held outside of the normal Census, is critical to restoring key City funding. Census funds assist the City in providing road maintenance, street salt, public safety personnel, and special events.

Addresses in the Special Census Area will begin receiving mailers from the Census Bureau February 3. The first two mailings, scheduled to take place February 4 and February 10, will be letters, while the last two mailings, scheduled to take place on February 18 and February 27, will be postcards. Each letter and postcard will contain a unique 12-digit code, along with information on how to participate in the “Internet Self-Response” (ISR) period, which runs from February 3 through March 7. Once the ISR period ends, Census workers will begin going door-to-door to collect information from addresses that did not respond.

We need your help, Aurora, to establish a more accurate population count, leading to a restoration of key funding and expansion of services to the City’s growing community!
