The Aurora Public Library’s (APL) Back to the 1980s BBQ Bash, with music by Voyage, will be held Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Santori Public Library of Aurora at 7 p.m..
According to APL Foundation manager, Laura Stoney, the BBQ Bash is one of two events the Foundation has planned for 2018. December 1, the APL will present the “We Care Together” Party and Auction. The two events, as well as the annual giving program and direct mail appeals, help to provide funds for APL resources and services.
The BBQ Bash and programs such as the Kiwanis Shining Bright Early Literacy program, homebound services, Light of Learning scholarships, dedicated spaces filled with parent/caretaker materials, sensory-disorder specialized equipment and tools, STEAM programs, the Marie Wilkinson Family Collection, garden enhancement and programming, and state-of-the-art technologies are made possible by the generosity of sponsors and donors who help with funds for many popular APL programs and activities.
Stoney talked about the importance of the 1980s BBQ Bash and its impact on APL programs, and said, “Proceeds from the Back to the 1980s BBQ Bash help make possible programs and services that otherwise APL would not be able to provide. We are grateful for the generosity of so many people in our community. The BBQ Bash is a blast and it is great to help others while having fun.”
Supporters can show that they care about these important initiatives by taking advantage of one of several sponsorship opportunities. Sponsors are recognized on the APL and Foundation websites, donor walls in the library, and at the events.
There are other incentives as well. For example, a title sponsor for $3,000 will name the Makerspace, Media Lab, or the bookstore at Santori Library for a full year. In addition, a title sponsor will receive two bookcase namings, a full-page ad in the APL newsletter, and four tickets to each event.
A $750 sponsor will receive two permanent bookcase namings, a half-size page ad in the APL newsletter, and two tickets to each event.
A $500 sponsor will receive one bookcase naming, one quarter-size page ad in the APL newsletter, and one ticket to each event, and a $250 sponsor will receive a quarter-size ad in the APL newsletter and one ticket to each event.
All sponsors and donors receive recognition on Aurora Public Library Aurora, Foundation and auction websites, donor walls, and at the events.
