The Batavia Chamber of Commerce celebrated new business and chamber member Batavia Hardwoods with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 1. The event took place at their retail shop, 330 McKee Street in Batavia.
Batavia mayor Jeffery Schielke presided over the celebration along with three of the four owners, Kersten Beer, Steve Lusted, and Doug Marsh. John Dillon is the fourth owner. Among the well-wishers were Batavia Chamber President Margaret Perreault, Patti Anselme, chamber special events coordinator; and Shirley Mott, chamber communications and membership coordinator; as well as chamber ambassadors and board members. Other supporters included members of the Chicago Woodturners, Fox Valley Woodworkers Club, the owners of Fox Valley Gallery of Wood, which was previously a Batavia Boardwalk Shop for two years, as well as family and friends.
Batavia Hardwoods is a store for people who love to create with wood and those who love what is created by talented woodworkers. The store stocks a large variety of flat stock including rough sawn, live edge, surfaced, and salvaged lumber. One room is filled with a large selection of local and exotic wood species in sizes perfect for wood turning. Additionally, you may find a variety of available spindles, bowl blanks, once-turned bowls and miscellaneous sections of logs and branches. For those who love creations from wood or are looking for unique gifts, Batavia Hardwoods has a selection of finished products created by talented local artisans.
