Batavia women’s chorus opens ‘Sundays On Stage’ series

Tunes filled Batavia Public Library Sunday, July 27.

Misty River Music Makers, a Batavia-based women’s a cappella ensemble, kicked off the library’s five-part summer/fall “Sundays On Stage” series.

In an hour-long concert, about 20 members of the group performed favorites ranging from “In the Good Old Summertime” to “Under the Boardwalk” to “America the Beautiful.” Featured were barbershop quartet numbers and several singalongs with audience members joining in.

Board president and vocalist Jennifer Offutt of Batavia introduced selections and participated in group songs and with the Quarter Turn Quartet. In addition to directing, Maria Kolano of St. Charles participated in group numbers and the quartet. Other quartet members were Jo Ann Ward, Geneva; and Beth Pasek, St. Charles.

The library, at 10 S. Batavia Ave. in Batavia, will continue its Sundays on Stage series with monthly events at 2 p.m. in August, September, October, and November. The schedule is:

Aug. 24: “Fl;ying High: Betty the Pan Am Stewardess,” a portrayal by Leslie Goddard.

Sept. 28: “A Tribute to Neil Diamond” by Denny Diamond.

Oct. 26: “Blue Moon” seasonal songs, by Heather Braoudakis.

Nov. 23: “It’s a Wonderful Life”–Trivia, background and songs by John Boda.
