In college basketball, the University of Illinois men went to overtime and lost to Northwestern, 96-91.
Ironically, Illinois defeated Northwestern by 30 points in the teams’ first game this season.
Literally, it shows more of improvement and development of Northwestern than the Illinois demise.
More than few recent comments on the two teams reflect both could be in the NCAA tournament.
At the start of this week, each team was 15-5 in the won-loss category.
Both had games set for early this week, Illinois at Ohio State Tuesday and NU at Purdue Wednesday.

Illinois fell from No. 10 to No. 14 in the Associated Press rankings. NU was No. 31 among “others”.
Northwestern and Illinois were tied for third place in the Big Ten Conference, each 6-3.
Northern Illinois had a seven-game losing streak this year prior to Tuesday at Central Michigan.
Other Winter sports include high school basketball. Waubonsie Valley was 22-0 at week’s start.
The Warriors were rated No. 4 in the Chicago area by the Sun-Times and win close games.

The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will start Spring training in the South.
The Cubs will begin Spring training games February 23 and the White Sox will start February 24.
Games will be played nearly every day with games in two divisions.
Warm days, rest, and relaxation, are part of the scene.
Both the White Sox and Cubs will have training caps in Arizona.
Rain will be the plan of Spring training.
