Housekeeping first: Chad Beebe, receiver and return man for both Aurora Christian (click here to see article) and Northern Illinois, is with the Minnesota Vikings 10-man practice squad. It is a start.
High school football: Both West Aurora and Glenbard East have been untested in the first three games, each 3-0. East has scored 135 points and given up 35. West Aurora is 163-6. Each will test the other Friday in the Upstate Eight.
• Nate Eimer, West Aurora head coach: “(Friday, 55-0 over Streamwood) our effort was best we have had in my eight years (at West Aurora)….Glenbard East has the best special teams in the conference and big time QB (Bret Bushka), WR (Jeremy Johnson), and LBs (Anthony Shockey and Jack Baka).”
• John Walters, Glenbard East head coach: “(West Aurora and Glenbard East) has been a good match-up the last few years with West getting the better of us. Seems like it’s their ground attack against our passing attack. We’ve been balanced this year, run and pass.”
• Yorkville’s start is 3-0 start following a 24-7 non-conference victory over visiting McHenry Friday (See page 12.) “We have had good showings by our special teams and defense,” Yorkville head coach Dan McGuire said prior to a Northern Illinois Big 12 East game at Morris.
• Montini beat visiting Marmion, 27-3, Friday. “Montini is so fast and pretty much handled us all night,” Marmion head coach Dan Thorpe said. Mike Bukovsky of Montini: “We have weapons….”
