Three Fires Council and councils across the nation will officially adopt the name Scouting America. In May of 2024, the Boy Scouts of America organization announced an expected name change to take place February 8, Scouting’s anniversary. This marks the beginning of a new era of Scouting with Scouting America.

While the name of the organization is changing, the Scout oath and law, the program, values instilled in youth, and dedication to safety will remain the same.

Three Fires Council Scout Executive Ron Wentzell said “Scouting has now welcomed girls into Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs for more than five years. Locally, Three Fires Council, currently serves 905 girls and young women across all programs which makes up 13% of our overall membership. We have seen female membership grow 30% in the last two years. Similarly, our diverse membership has grown 12% in the last two years.

We are proud of this record, and I believe this name change will position Three Fires Council to be a strong partner in the community to support all kids. We know our program works. We know 98% of Scouting alumni say Scouting had a positive impact on their lives. Scouting made them better employees, parents, and citizens.”
