• Knit And Crochet Group, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon.

This informal group works on its own projects, discusses types and colors of yarn, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies. No registration is required.

• Movie Night, Monday, Feb. 24, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..

As part of Black History Month, the 1940 movie, Broken Strings, will be presented, preceded by a brief introduction to the history of the black film industry, 1916-1950s.

• Writers’ Group, Thursday, Feb. 27, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Writers can discuss their work. Open to adults and high school students. No registration is required.

• Suicide Prevention, Monday, March 9, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Those worried about someone can learn basic information about suicide, how to get help, and resources for living with loss. Presented by the Suicide Prevention Services of America. No registration is required.

Kids events

• Independent Storytime for 3s, 4s, & 5s, Monday, Feb. 24, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m..

For independent three through five year-olds, without an adult. It will feature simple stories, music, movement activities, and a simple craft. Parents must remain in the Kids’ Library during the program. Registration is required. Sign up for each session separately. Call 630-552-2025, or, stop by the Kids’ Library Desk to register.

• Read and Play Everyone, Monday, Feb. 24, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 25, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m..
