Aurora Historical Society will hold a Burlington Railroad 175th anniversary banquet program from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Two Brothers Roundhouse, 205 N. Broadway in Aurora.
The public is invited. Admission by July 16 is $75 for AHS members, $85 for nonmembers; after July 16, admission is $90 for AHS members and $100 for nonmembers.
The event opens at 4 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeruvres. At 4:30 p.m., John Jaros, AHS executive director, will give a presentation chronicling the railroad’s history. A buffet dinner will follow at 5 p.m.
The event will close with a screening of the 1934 movie, “The Silver Streak.” The film spotlights the Pioneer Zephyr’s record-setting 13-hour run from Denver to Chicago.
