As part of continued efforts to advocate for our veterans and ensure they receive the care and attention they deserve, State representative Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, has introduced legislation to mark June 27 annually as Post-Traumatic Stress Injury Day in Illinois.
“Our veterans dedicate their lives in service to us, and often this has long term health consequences for them,” Kifowit said. “We want to make sure that they receive the resources and attention they deserve to access help, and that starts by building further awareness on the issue.”
Kifowit’s House Bill 2805 would recognize June 27 as Post-Traumatic Stress Injury Day in Illinois to bring awareness to the brave men and women who received post-traumatic stress injuries while in service to their country. The measure notes that these individuals received these injuries while risking their lives to protect our freedom, health and welfare, and that our State recognizes them for their gallantry, commitment, devotion, and sacrifice for our communities.

“Our State holidays underscore our values here in Illinois,” Kifowit said. “I remain committed to supporting efforts to increase access for care for all of veterans, no matter their age or background.”
