Ask Grandpa: Problems with car in the driveway

Grandpa, I noticed and was irritated by a parked car totally in and blocking my driveway. After about 30 minutes of the feeling of being trapped in my own home, I noticed a neighbor outdoors. He is the same neighbor (with whom I have had issues in the past). This...

North Aurora resident Sid Pearce describes the 14 hours of noise each day from grading and site preparation north of her home on Ridge Road to the North Aurora Village board Monday. The site of the former Fox Valley Golf Course is set to be a subdivsion of homes. Village administrator Steve Bosco said they are trying to get the land graded and prepared for roads before the asphalt factories close at the end of November. • Consent was given to create the Village’s first truancy ordinance in cooperation with West Aurora School District 129 at the Committee of the Whole meeting. The ordinance will help deal with students who are habitually absent. Violators over the age of 13 years may be subject to a fine, or community service, or both. If the violator is under 13 years of age, the parent or custodian of the violator is subject to the fine or community service, or both. The fine discussed was up to $750. • Consent was given to add music and more amplified speakers to the July 3 fireworks show. Melrose Pyrotechnics informed the Village, the cost for the $25,000 shows in the past has increased $3,800 to $28,800 due to new safety regulations passed in China where their fireworks are purchased. The Board agreed to reduce the approximately 20-minute show to 16 or 17 minutes in 2019 to keep the cost the same $25,000 in 2018. The final votes are set for the December 3 Village Board meeting. Seriously, something smashing to upset us: Pumpkin rights

Each week I receive my copy of The Voice, provided the USPS hasn’t routed it through Upper Silesia, and read it front to back. A couple of weeks ago in the “Readers’ Voice” section, a gentleman wrote an intelligent, fairly non-judgmental rebuttal to a lady who, in a previous edition,...
