Aurora’s Santori Public Library celebrated Three Kings Day with food, photos, crafts, face-painting and gifts from the kings Sunday, Jan. 5.

The 10th annual Celebración del Día de los Reyes Magos (three wisemen) attracted more than 200 attendees to the event held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown main library. The festive family event is a cherished tradition celebrated in Mexico and throughout Latin America.

A library statement added, “The Día de los Reyes Magos celebration at APLD keeps alive a tradition many families hold dear. This annual event has grown to welcome new participants every year, with families returning to create lasting memories.”

Library elementary school services coordinator and event organizer Mariana Guerrero said, “I love seeing families come back year after year and enjoying this tradition as if they were back at home. The idea of sharing such a magical holiday celebrated by many Latinos, keeps that cultural part of our traditions alive even when we are far away from Mexico. It is extremely important to teach others about cultural traditions, such as the Three Wise Men, and to embrace each other’s traditions and customs.”

Attendees stepped into a world of joy and culture. Visitors had the opportunity to meet and take pictures with the Three Wise Men, create their own crown to feel like royalty and enjoy a traditional treat: Rosca de Reyes (a sweet bread) generously provided by local bakeries.

The program included face painting by talented artist Zor Zapata, ensuring fun for everyone. Each family received a free board game donated by Community Organizing and Family Issues Aurora, making the event a perfect blend of education, creativity and community connection.
