International author and award-winning photographer, poet, and essayist, Jo Fredell Higgins, will release her first two children’s books in June. “Patsy the Panda” and “Therese the Tiger” are written for beginning readers. Each book sells for $10 and will be available for purchase at the event.
The signature signing, story time, and book event will be held at the Aurora Public Library Eola Road Branch at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, in the park area outside the Library.
She has written a weekly article for the past 12 years for The Voice. She is the author of another 12 books, including the histories of Aurora, Geneva, DeKalb, Montgomery, and Naperville, each published by Arcadia Publishing. Her photographs have won national awards including a first place in ChildCare magazine, the American Library Association “A Nation of Readers” contest, and “Capture My Chicago” book photos.
Jo retired from Waubonsee Community College as manager of the Adult Literacy Project and holds an M.S.Ed from Northern Illinois. in DeKalb.
