Christopher Faber has been named as the executive director for the City of Batavia’s Downtown Partnership organization, Batavia MainStreet.
Batavia MainStreet is a 501©3 not-for-profit organization working to enhance, promote, and revitalize Downtown Batavia as the heart of the community through dedicated volunteer efforts. MainStreet is host to community events and promotions such as the Batavia Farmers’ Market, Batavia Dinner Table, Oktoberfest, and BatFest, and caters to all demographics.
This news comes after outgoing executive director, Jamie Saam, announced in June that she would be stepping down to focus on her family business, Bulldog Plumbing Inc., and other personal endeavors.
Faber will join MainStreet with a long history of community-focused experience. Faber has served as president of Northlight Media Solutions since 2014; two terms as a Village trustee in North Aurora; executive board member and treasurer of North Aurora River District Alliance; past chairman of the board, Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley; and past president of Elburn Chamber of Commerce.
A hiring committee of community stakeholders, business owners, and Batavia MainStreet board members selected Faber after an extensive search. His first official day with Batavia MainStreet was August 1 with a brief introduction by Saam at the organization’s annual fundraiser July 21, Cocktails in the Park.
The vision of Batavia MainStreet is described as helping create a unique and vital downtown that enriches the business community, embraces history, celebrates the arts, preserves the natural environment and promotes events to instill a sense of place within the city.
