Honored at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday was the city of Aurora Water Production Division for winning the 2017 Kane County Water Association Taste Test contest for the seventh time. The new quarterly staff member honors included the Building and Permits Division for 94 certifications, the most in Illinois. The Neighborhood Redevelopment Department was honored for the St. Charles Senior Living Center which received a Vision Award. Chief Community Services officer Dan Barreiro was honored for receiving the Fox Valley United Way’s Live United Award for his voluteer commitments. • Approved was the purchase of 75 Cardiac Science G5 AEDs and three Cardiac Science G5 Trainer Units from Second Chance Cardiac Solutions in Yorkville for the Aurora Fire Department and the Aurora Police Department, over the next two years. This bid was the second lowest of seven with a net cost after trade in of $83,731.25. • Appoved was an ordinance to establish a special use planned development at the northeast corner of I-88 and Mitchell Road that will be incorporated under the existing West Corporate Center. The Pizzuti Companies will construct a speculative office, warehouse, and distribution building with a 238-space parking lot. • Appointments were made to Aurora Youth Council, Block Grant Working Committee, and Aurora Preservation Commission.
