Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement on winning the race for the 11th Congressional District of Illinois:
“I am honored that the voters of the 11th District have reelected me to serve as their representative in Congress, and I am grateful for everyone who worked hard to make this victory possible.
“At a time when our politics are so polarized and the results of our elections are frequently questioned, I was gratified to receive a gracious call from my opponent Jerry Evans, conceding the election and wishing me well in the upcoming Congress.
“Tonight, voters in our district spoke clearly: They want a leader in Congress who will fight to make sure our economy works for middle class Americans and small businesses; who trusts women to make their own health care decisions and defends reproductive freedom; who will pursue common sense measures to curb gun violence in our communities; and who won’t hesitate to work across party lines to address challenges like immigration reform and protecting our environment for future generations.
“As a scientist and a businessman, I’m committed to making sure facts and science have a place in our policy debates in Washington, and as someone who is proud to call IL-11 home, I’ll never hesitate to do what’s best for our district.
“Serving the people of Illinois in Congress has been the honor of a lifetime, and I look forward to continuing to serve them in the 119th Congress.”
