Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora supports diabetes research

The Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora has donated $2,500 last week to support the Kovler Diabetes Center at University of Chicago, which provides research, care, and education to empower patients to effectively manage diabetes.

Cosmopolitan Club President Russ George presented the check Thursday, May 11, to Peggy Hasenauer, MS, RN, executive director of the Kovler Center and an Aurora Cosmo, at the club’s monthly membership meeting at Oak Street Restaurant in North Aurora.

Hasenauer told Club members, “The work you do is exceptionally powerful.” Since 2015, the Chicago hospital has received $15,000 from the Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora and $8,500 from Cosmopolitan Diabetes Foundation, fundraising arm of Cosmopolitan International. The Aurora nonprofit is known as the club that fights diabetes.

Founded in 1927, Cosmopolitan Club is host to an annual Night at the Farm fundraiser. This year’s event will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the barn at Blackberry Farm, 100 S. Barnes Road in Aurora. Tickets, $30, include entertainment by Sling Blade, a classic rock and blues band; hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, basket raffles, door prize drawings, and a 50-50 raffle.
