There are many important items which require our using a shoehorn to fit in as much in this space this week. We promise a highlight of the 19 veterans who received Quilts of Valor in the still-new Veterans Serendipity Park of the Oswegoland Park District.
First, the omnipresent COVID-19 elicits our attention. We have totals through Monday of this week in Counties DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will.
Mayor Richard Irvin was set to address issues Wednesday this week in City Hall, relevant to the COVID-19 which Monday surpassed 5,000 cases and had reached 118 deaths.
Irvin was ready to emphasize the importance of wearing masks as a part of individual responsibility, watching six-foot distance, and washing hands.
• Here is the compilation of the COVID-19 cases in four counties with population, cases, and deaths, in respective order: DuPage, 920,000 population; 14,679 cases; 534 deaths; Kane, 520,000; 11,326; 313; Kendall, 120,00, 7,603; 25; Will, 680,000; 11,692; 362. We have to continue living, however, exercising caution and care are paramount. Lack of good health can strike quickly. COVID-19 is not visible.
• The Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club will hold its second meeting at 1 E. Benton Street, since the club canceled live meeting in March.
• Mark Gaffino, four-term Village Board trustee in North Aurora, earlier this week said he will run for Village president. President Dale Berman will run for Kane County Board.
• Raffle tickets, $100. each, remain in a special drawing for a 1967 Camaro to benefit Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity. The drawing will be September 25.
Clear and Concise, Week 35:
• Access is a noun and not a verb.
• Denny Wiggins sang well at the Quilts of Valor!
