City of Aurora officials have been in regular contact with Ms Villalon, the mother of PFC Miguel A. Villalon, since his tragic death last weekend in Afghanistan.
She extends her heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the Aurora community and from across the country. She appreciates all of the prayers and condolences and asks that you continue to pray for her family during this difficult time.
Ms Villalon has returned home from receiving her beloved son’s body earlier this week at Dover Air Force Base and is privately preparing for funeral services.
PFC Miguel Villalon will be laid to rest next weekend in their family’s hometown in Brownsville, Texas where he attended elementary school and where his father and many immediate family members currently reside.
The City of Aurora is planning a community-wide vigil and memorial ceremony after the funeral here in Aurora where the young soldier attended Waldo Middle School and East Aurora High School. Ms Villalon will be in attendance.
Details of the ceremony will be made public by mayor Richard C. Irvin during his bi-weekly media briefing at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Aurora City Hall.
