Diabetes Club elects new officers & board members; Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members hear from Rick Sanchez, owner of Legacy Nutrition

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley held their September membership meeting Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.

Club vice president, Chuck Nelson, introduced guest speaker, Rick Sanchez, a diabetes prevention lifestyle coach, and certified personal and group fitness trainer. He is the owner of Legacy Nutrition & Fitness, 77 South River Street, in downtown Aurora, and a member of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley. He has created more than a gym — he’s built a wellness center for the community.

Rick, spoke about how his passion for fitness began at home, as his parents aged and developed health issues. He helped his mother through an incredible 100-pound weight loss, and that journey lit a fire in him to want to guide others through the same transformation.

Legacy Nutrition & Fitness has been in downtown Aurora for eight years, serving protein donuts and healthy drinks, along with five fitness classes each day.

Legacy Nutrition & Fitness will host “November is National Diabetes Month — Health Fair”, Saturday, Nov. 8. Members of the Diabetes Club are looking forward to participating in the event.

Rick, stated, “Our mission is simple: Helping people get healthy, gain confidence, and live longer, healthier lives, whether it’s weight loss, strength training, or disease prevention. My team and I are here to provide the tools, support, and accountability people need”

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold their September “Meet and Greet”, organized by media chairperson, Ann McBride, to expose the Club and their mission, Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Legacy Nutrition & Fitness, 77 S. River Street, in downtown Aurora.

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley elected the following members to lead the Club, through their fourth year, from October 1, through September 30, 2026.

Russ George, president; Chuck Nelson, vice president; Pat Jones, secretary; Kim King, treasurer; Tony Arch, treasurer trustee; Ernie Jones, sergeant-at-arms; Ed Carroll, chaplain.

Elected board members are: Mary Arch, Marilyn George, Jenny McCain, Kenlyn Nash-Demeter, Jessica Pall, and Rick Sanchez.

November will be National Diabetes Awareness Month! Why not plan on attending our second annual gala dinner, “A Night To End Diabetes”, Friday, Nov. 14, (World Diabetes Day), at the Lincoln Inn, 1345 South Batavia Avenue, in Batavia.

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure.
