Diabetes Club of Fox Valley ‘Meet & Greet’ Oct. 11; November will be “National Diabetes Awareness Month” plan on attending an event!

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold it’s October “Meet and Greet”, organized by media chairperson, Ann McBride, to expose our Club and our mission, Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Panera Bread, 1330 N. Orchard Road, in Aurora.

Plan on stopping by to meet some of our members, pickup information on diabetes, prediabetes, healthy meal planning, and our new Diabetic Recipes Booklet, while enjoying a tasty treat, and a great cup of coffee!

In three weeks we begin National Diabetes Awareness Month, observed in November, to raise an awareness about diabetes, its prevention, and its management.

National Diabetes Awareness Month is an opportunity to highlight the importance of early detection and treatment of diabetes, which can help prevent serious health problems.

During the month of November, many organizations and individuals work together to educate the public about diabetes and its risk factors. Encouraging yearly screenings for prediabetes and diabetes, while promoting healthy lifestyle habits, such as exercise and a balanced diet.

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together throughout the entire year, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure.

The dangers of uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, kidney damage and more.

Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!

Here’s three diabetes educational and fundraising events being held and/or hosted by members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley.

“Living Well With Diabetes”, advocating for the health of patients, caregivers, and family through mindfulness and self-care. A free community education and advocacy event focused on diabetes management, self-care recommendations, and important resources, being held Saturday, Nov. 1, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the University of Chicago, Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine, 4th Floor Atrium, 5857 S. Maryland Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60637. The event is open to anyone interested in attending. “Healthy Futures Expo”, co-hosted by Legacy Nutrition & Fitness and the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley, on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Society 57, 100 S. River Street, in downtown Aurora, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Free admission! The event will feature on-site healthcare services, including screenings, plus educational workshops covering nutrition and exercise, guest speakers, and resource organizations dedicated to supporting those with diabetes. “A Night To End Diabetes” Why not plan on attending the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley’s second annual gala dinner, being held on World Diabetes Day, Friday, Nov. 14, at the Lincoln Inn, 1345 South Batavia Avenue, in Batavia.

Dancing to live music by Phoenixx, a powerhouse of vintage rhythm and harmony channeling the spirit of legends from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. A high-energy, harmony-driven band rooted in the golden era of music from the 1950s to classic hits of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
