Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members participant in Aunt Martha’s, Back To School Health Fair; Diabetes Club promotes awareness at National Night Out

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley participated in Aurora alderman Carl Franco’s, Fifth Ward National Night Out (NNO), Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Washington Park, on Constitution Drive, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m..

Diabetes Club members handed out information on prediabetes, diabetes, healthy eating and our new booklet of healthy recipes, plus small toys and frisbees for the kids.

The event was well attended, participants, especially the children, enjoyed meeting the police and firefighters, especially all the emergency response vehicles, and their sirens.

Everyone enjoyed the free music, games, pizza, and beverages!

Saturday, Aug. 9, members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley, joined several other organizations, at Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness, “Back-to-School Health Fair”, at their Aurora location, 2124 Ogden Avenue.

DCFV Club members visited with several recently diagnosed diabetics, and those who have had diabetes for several years. We provided handouts to all who were interested, which included a large envelope filled with information regarding diabetes, prediabetes, and healthy eating, including our new Diabetic Recipe Booklet.

Saturday, Aug. 23, DCFV members will be at the Aurora Farmers Market, on Water Street, between Benton and Downer Place, in downtown Aurora, from 8 a.m. to noon.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month! Please mark your calendar to save Friday, Nov. 14, (World Diabetes Day), for the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley’s second annual gala dinner, “A Night to End Diabetes”, at the Lincoln Inn, 1345 South Batavia Avenue, in Batavia. Cocktails will be at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m..

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure. Uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision, heart and dental problems, plus nerve and kidney damage. Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used locally for the club’s fight against diabetes. Tax deductible donations can be made on our website:

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley meets monthly, on the second Wednesday of each month, January through November, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora. Optional Dinner at 5:30 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.. Guests are always welcome!
