Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members to meet April 9; monthly ‘Meet and Greet’, Saturday, April 12, at Society 57

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold their April membership meeting Wednesday, April 9, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.

Meeting will be held in the East Banquet Room. Dinner is optional on members’ own from the menu at 5:30 p.m. and meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m..

Guests are always welcome!

The Club’s April Meet And Greet, organized by media chairperson, Ann McBride, to expose our Club and its mission, will be held Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Society 57, 100 S. River Street, in downtown Aurora.

We’re excited to hold the meet and greet, on the same day, as the Aurora Farmers Market, Art & Market, at Society 57, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..

Why not stop by, meet some of our members, pickup information on diabetes, prediabetes, and healthy meal planning, while enjoying a great cup of coffee!

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley are looking forward to their third annual “Tee Off to Defeat Diabetes” Golf Outing and Banquet, being held Friday, June 20, at Bliss Creek Golf Course, 1 Golf View Road, in Sugar Grove, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Adam Broholm, golf committee chairperson, has finalized all the details, stating, “We’re ready to sign you up. Use our website: diabeteshelpnearme.com or mail your check to: DCFV, P.O. Box 88, North Aurora, IL 60542”.

Matt McCain, golf committee co-chairperson, stated “The golf committee has put together a complete golf outing package. Only $150 per golfer, includes a hot dog lunch, golf cart, goody bag and steak dinner! Why not put your name or business on our Friends of DCFV Sponsorship Banner for $100 or become a hole sponsor: Bronze $200, silver $300, or gold $400. Hole sponsors will be listed in our annual program, and on the Friends of DCFV Banner, which will be displayed at all of our Club’s events, throughout the summer.”

Fundraising chairperson, Jenny McCain, stated “I’m currently securing donations for our huge raffle, that follows a delicious steak dinner. Please contact me if you wish to donate something for the raffle at: 630-204-1197 or E-mail: jennymccain@sbcglobal.net.”

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure.

Here are the warning signs of diabetes: The following symptoms are typical, however, some people with type 2 diabetes have symptoms so mild that they go unnoticed.

Common symptoms of diabetes include: Urinating often, feeling very thirsty, feeling very hungry even though you are eating more, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, cuts and bruises that are slow to heal, weight loss even though you are eating more (type 1), and tingling, pain or numbness in your hands or feet (type 2).

Uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, kidney damage and more.

Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used locally for the club’s fight against diabetes.
