Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold their November membership meeting Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.
Meeting will be held in the East Banquet Room. Dinner is optional on members’ own from the menu at 5:30 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.. Guests are always welcome!
Guest speakers for this month’s membership meeting will be Hlawn Tlang and Blend Dalipi, members of our Diabetes Club, who are undergraduate students at Aurora University, majoring in Health Science and minoring in Chemistry, both aspiring to become medical doctors.
Jatniel Morales Goez, an AU grad, will join in the presentation “Healing Diabetes Together”, which was first presented Sunday, Oct. 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Aurora.
The AU students have done a wonderful job, in their quest to bring about an awareness of the dangers of diabetes. The research, brochures, and PowerPoint presentations, explaining their research and how to prevent becoming a diabetic.
Our country has a diabetes epidemic, that can only be solved by bringing groups of people together, highlighting the dangers of uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose), which can cause vision, heart and dental problems, in addition to nerve and kidney damage.
Let’s start eating healthy, while staying active and having a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!
Don’t miss the first ever “Healthy Futures Expo,” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Society 57, 100 S. River Street, in downtown Aurora. The event is dedicated to connecting families, health professionals, and local organizations, in our fight for a healthier tomorrow. The event is co-hosted by Legacy Nutrition & Fitness and the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley. Free Admission!
Participating organizations are: UChicago Medicine’s-Kovler Diabetes Center, VNA, Pure Health, Aunt Martha’s Health Center, Ellie’s Mental Health, Aurora Public Library, Life Time Fitness, Human Health Insurance, Interfaith Pantry, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Legacy Nutrition & Fitness, Aurora African America Health Coalition, Liam Drinks, Fresh Start City Church, European Service LLC, and the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley.
Guests attending can look forward to live fitness demos, educational presentations, family-focused wellness activities, and a food demo with complimentary Fresh Salad & Yogurt Parfait Bar, by Annette Licitra, owner of Passionate Palate.
“This event is more than a health fair — it’s a movement”, said coach Rick Sanchez, founder of Legacy Nutrition & Fitness, 77 S. River Street, in downtown Aurora. “We’re creating a new space for Aurora and surrounding communities to come together, to learn, and take action toward healthier, stronger futures”.

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure.
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. A true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used for the club’s fight against diabetes.
