Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold their June membership meeting Wednesday, June 12, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.
Meeting will be held in the East Banquet Room. Dinner is optional on members’ own from the menu at 5:30 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.. Guests are always welcome!
Guest speaker for this month’s meeting will be Dr. Lulu Blacksmith, EdD, founder of Companeros en Salud / Partners in Health, NFP, whose mission is to provide the Hispanic community and other diverse groups with the means to have access to resources and services for their health and well-being.
Our Club’s June “Meet and Greet”, organized by media chairperson, Ann McBride, to expose our Club and our mission, will be held Saturday, June 15, at Jake’s Bagels & Deli, 220 N. Broadway, in downtown Aurora, from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop at our table, meet some of our members and pick up information on diabetes and prediabetes.
•Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley are looking forward to their second annual “Tee Off to Defeat Diabetes” Golf Outing, being held Friday, June 21, at Bliss Creek Golf Course, 1 Golf View Road in Sugar Grove, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Adam Broholm, golf committee chairperson, stated “Why not join Scott McKay, from 95.9 the River and more than 70 other golfers for a fun, but challenging event! If you are the first golfer to score a hole in one, on the 16th hole, you’ll drive home a new 2024 Buick, compliments of Ray Buick, 5011 W. 63rd Street in Chicago.”
Matt McCain, golf committee co-chairperson, stated “The golf committee has put together a complete golf outing package. Only $130 per golfer, includes a hot dog lunch, golf, cart, goody bag and steak dinner! Why not put your name or business on our Friends of DCFV Sponsorship Banner for $100 or become a hole sponsor: Bronze $200., Silver $300, or Gold $400. Hole sponsors will be listed in our annual program, and on the Friends of DCFV Banner, which will be carried in Aurora’s Fourth of July Parade.”

•Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure. Eat healthy, stay active, and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes-free!
