Dolan and Murphy men’s fastpitch softball team started its season at the DeKalb Icebreaker recently with a 2-3 record. Dolan played teams from Sycamore, Kenosha Wis., DeKalb, and Chicago.
Dolan and Murphy lost the semi-final game, 7-6, to the Chicago Bravos and their picked up pitcher Joel Cooley who is a member of the USA National team. Jose Deleon was 1-1 and Michael Jamieson was 1-2 for the tournament. Leading the offense for the weekend were Dave Perkins, .400 and two runs batted in; Clayton Wallace, two home runs and six runs batted in; and Mick Baker batted .300.
Memorial Day Weekend found the Dolan and Murphy Shamrocks in Walcott, Iowa, and came home with the tournament championship with a 4-0 record.
In the first game Dolan defeated the Lamp Liter and former Dolan player, Ales Jetmar, 2-1.
In the second inning Dolan’s Dave Schuett doubled and Clayton Wallace drove him in with a single to take the lead. In the fourth inning Cooper Carson drove in Wallace who had walked earlier in the inning with a sacrifice fly and Dolan hung on for the victory. Jamieson was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, Dolan defeated the Merchants, 3-0. Jose Deleon was the winning pitcher and gave up three hits and struck out 13. Leading the offense were Wallace with two hits, and Robert Reder and Dave Perkins each drove in a run.
Sunday, Dolan defeated the Merchants, 10-3. Jamieson was the winning pitcher and leading the offense were Robert Reder and Mick Baker, each with three hits.
In the last game of the weekend Dolan defeated Lamp Liter and Ales Jetmar, 8-4. Deleon was the winning pitcher. Leading the offense was Robert Reder with three hits and three runs batted in and Hannon Hoani with two hits and two runs batted in.
Dolan and Murphy will next be in action in Kimberly, Wis, for a tournament and will play Lacrosse Wis., New Zealand National Team, and St. Paul, Minn..
