Dolan and Murphy men’s fastpitch softball team played in two tournaments over two weekends July 10-12 in Denmark, Wis. and July 17-19 in St. Paul Minn.. Dolan, based in Aurora, took place in St. Paul for an 8-4 record overall, however, was winless in Denmark.
In Denmark, Dolan lost its first game, 4-1. Michael Jamieson was the losing pitcher, gave up four runs in the first inning, and shut down Circle Tap the rest of the game. Dolan rallied to score a run and had the bases loaded, but could not score to take the lead. Tyler Albert collected two hits to lead the Dolan offense.
In the next game, Dolan lost to Wabash, Ind., 6-2. Jamieson was the losing pitcher. Mick Baker and John Schweighart each produced two hits.
In Dolan’s last game the Shamrocks lost, 3-1, to Kegel. Jamieson was the losing pitcher and Tom Crouch led the offense with two hits.
Dolan defeated Tin Cup, 7-0, in its first game in St. Paul. Julian Fernandez was the winning pitcher. Leading the offense were Fernandez, with two hits and two runs batted in, Crouch with two hits and two runs batted in, and Jim Pecoraro with two hits.
Dolan defeated The Strikers from Minneapolis, 10-2. Jamieson picked up the pitching victory.
In the semifinals Dolan defeated the Fargo Knights, 7-0. Fernandez was the winning pitcher and leading the offense was Mick Baker with three hits and three runs batted in.
In the winner-take-all championship game, Tin Cup came back from its opening loss and defeated Dolan, 9-2. Jamieson was the losing pitcher and Baker led the offense with two hits, one a double.
Dolan will return to Denmark, Wis. for tournament play, Friday, July 31-Sunday, Aug. 2.
