The Summer high school basketball leagues continue until Independence Day, generally. We may see the next Camron Donatlan come to the surface. The West Aurora High School graduate is at the University of Wyoming preparing for the football season, even though he will not play basketball, which is how he burst on to the scene as a freshman in high school. See pages 1 and 10.
• Conferences and schools are scrambling to find new alignments, in some cases for two and three years down the road. One change will be certain in the 2018-2019 school year. The DuKane Conference will make its debut which draws four schools from the DuPage Valley Conference, Glenbard North, Lake Park, Wheaton North, and Wheaton Warrenville South, and four schools from the Upstate Eight Conference, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles East and St. Charles North. The residue will include a 10-team Upstate, with the addition of Glenbard South from the Metro Suburban Conference, and no non-conference games in football. The DuPage Valley will be left with five teams and each team will play one opponent twice.
• Through Monday, the Aurora American Legion League leaders include Roosevelt-Aurora American Post 84 in the National Division with a 5-1 record and Kirhofer’s Sports with a 6-1 record in the American Division. Playoffs usually end at the end of July.
• In Aurora Pony League, the leaders are Third Ward Club, 10-5, in the American Division, and Kiwanis Club of Aurora, 10-4, in the National Division.
• In Boys Baseball of Aurora (BBA) major league, leaders are Teamsters, 11-1 in the American Division, 11-1, and Restoration Techs, 10-2, in the National Division. In the minors, leaders include, Dolan & Murphy, 10-2 in the American; Jakious Realty, 10-1 in the Central; Old Second Bank, 10-2, in the Midwest; and Jordan Legal, 7-5-1, in the National.
• The Hall of Fame induction for BBA Saturday at noon at Turner’s Field in Aurora will include: Bob Hamilton, Andy Weis; Emilie Galles; Larry Sladek; Lou Hernandez; and Steve Schwartz.
