Five East Aurora members were inducted into East Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Friday, Feb. 8. From left are Larry Ramsey, Class of 1985; Aaron McGhee, Class of 1997; Shari Mau, Class of 1994; Bob Christensen, Class of 1986; and Leo Schlee, class of 1971. Bob Christensen earned two varsity letters in football, one varsity letter in basketball and three varsity letters in baseball. Aaron McGhee is a four-year varsity basketball letter winner at East Aurora High School. He was chosen as a three-time All Upstate 8 Conference selection, as well as earning three-time Beacon-News All-Area Team selection. Shari (Mau) Maier participated in badminton, swimming, band, and cheerleading. Shari was an outstanding all-around athlete who was voted 1994 Female Athlete of the Year. Larry Ramsey was a member of the cross country, wrestling and track teams at East Aurora High School. He earned two varsity letters in cross country, one varsity letter in wrestling, and three varsity letters in track. Leo Schlee successfully wrestled at the 127-pound weight class on the sophomore level team and earned an undefeated record of 16-0 and was crowned the Upstate 8 Conference Tournament Champion. The team’s strong performance at the IHSA State wrestling tournament earned them a fourth place trophy. Leo finished his wrestling career with a complied record of 72 victories, six losses, and one tie.
