After a ten-hour negotiating session today, the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education and the East Aurora Council union have reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a three-year contract (2018-2021).
A press release from East Aurora School District 131 public relations officer Tom Jackson states, “The new contract achieves the Board’s long-desired goal of ensuring that our teachers are compensated at a level that is competitive with our neighboring school districts. It also includes a salary schedule for office and support staff that addresses historical issues with pay relative to date of hire. Specific terms of the tentative contract agreement will be finalized and published following ratification by the East Aurora Council membership and a vote of approval by the Board of Education in the coming weeks.
“We are grateful to the East Aurora Council for their willingness to keep talking, meeting and working with the Board and Administration to achieve a fair and equitable contract agreement without a strike that would have caused disruption to our students and families. We look forward to continuing to work together to maintain and enhance the quality of education and fiscal stability of District 131.”
