Honored at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday are recipients of the 2019 Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation. Eight property owners received the awards. They are in no set order:
55 S. Lake Street, Dan Sledz;
206 – 208 N. View Street, James Giroux;
612 S. 4th Street, Israel Duran & Fredd Construction; 110 N. Chestnut Street, Ulises and Nina Bahena;
69 S. View Street, Amy Vollbracht-Reeves and Kyle Reeves;
354 Spruce Street, Jeff and Anna Pruter;
523 W. Downer Place, Carlo & Holly Losurdo;
83 S. LaSalle Street, Model 51, LLC & Potter Construction & Associates.
Each year the Commission works with the Mayor’s Office for the Mayor’s Awards for Historic Preservation. The awards honor property owners who have made significant structural improvements while maintaining the historic character of their building.
Eligible projects should have been completed between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Properties should have been at least 50 years old or designated as historic by the city government of Aurora.
The Historic Preservation Commission designates landmarks, historical districts, and urban conservation districts within the corporate limits of Aurora.
